Christoph Hötzel

Clack, clack.. clack, clack. The trolley on paving tiles is the tune of globalization. As an Applications Engineer in the area of minerals and mining, international business trips are part of the routine, since the products of ThyssenKrupp Fördertechnik are complex and require extensive customer contact. Christoph joined our company when he was 26 years old after his two graduations in Process Engineering and Business Administration. He is part of a well-balanced team in our Business Unit Processing in Ennigerloh. His tasks involve acquiring and to work on enquiries of potential customers, to advise our customer and to generate offers customized to client’s request in close cooperation with the responsible operating department.

“One of the best moments…” ,Christoph remembers, “ …was after a long discussion about an alternative Flow sheet. Following hours of discussion the client settled back in his chair, nodded his head and exclaimed “I am convinced! This is a very good idea!”.

It’s the mix between working in the office and visiting a customer which is the charm in Christoph’s job. To present the name ThyssenKrupp in the front line is an everlasting fascinating challenge. Since 2007 Christoph is working in the world-mining-capital Perth, Western Australia.

“In Perth it’s an advantage that our customers are just a few steps from our office. To visit all big mining companies you only have to walk three blocks. It is easier to establish intensive relationships to the customer. In our location in Perth the basic and traditional field of activity is materials handling. Thus, the field of operation is also wider: Being the local contact for comminution and screening technology requires to help in project management or negotiating long-term service contract at times.“

Just recently, Christoph agreed to elongate his expatriate stay in Australia for another year; leaving the land “Down Under” with his wife Christiane in February 2012.
